After the Rococo period, people in France began to be inspired by the strict, bright lines of the ancient world. When this new form of expression eventually reached Sweden, it was adapted into a simpler, cleaner style to suit us Nordic inhabitants. King Gustav III showed considerable interest in this new style, and it naturally came to be known as Gustavian. At Enströms, we don't claim to produce 'Gustavian furniture', but we do make furniture in Gustavian style.
